FOR this Nostalgia edition we wanted to take a look back at the history of one North Cumbrian town.
This Nostalgia will briefly explore the history of the town of Penrith.
The location of the village is at an important intersection between England and Scotland, it is also part of the main route across the Pennines.
The streets are laced with distinctive red sandstone buildings that are full to the brim with shops and pubs.
Every Tuesday, a market is held in the town which is still successful to this day.
Penrith is on the doorstep of the Lake District and the Eden Valley, it is surrounded by an array of small villages, dramatic hills, and rolling countryside.
These photos show what was happening in Penrith in years gone by.
