CARLISLE and District Canine Society is encouraging local dog owners to attend its 'very informative' dog law seminar.
The seminar is due to take place on Sunday, October 6 at Houghton Village Hall and will be presented by leading dog law solicitor Trevor Cooper.
As part of the event, Trevor will cover a number of legal issues facing dog owners and professionals such as walkers, groomers, trainers, and behaviorists.
This topic will include microchipping, civil claims against vets and other dog owners, contracts to buy and sell dogs, and the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
Ahead of the event, Carlisle and District Canine Society's secretary Pam MacLellan encouraged local dog owners to attend the session.
The seminar, which is expected to last around three hours, will also feature a question-and-answer session with Trevor where local dog owners can get advice on their specific queries.
She said: "With the rapid increase in dog ownership since the pandemic it is important that we dog owners understand our responsibilities both to our dogs and other dog owners.
"Understanding what is fact and what is fiction is essential as numerous urban myths can provide us with false sense of security.
"Carlisle and District Canine Society are reaching out to all dog owners alike by providing this unique opportunity to attend a very friendly and informative meeting with Mr. Trevor Cooper a top barrister in his field of dog law, who has represented Battersea Dogs Home for many years.
"Anyone who attends the seminar will get the opportunity to meet Trevor and be engaged with his witty and very informative presentations.
"This is not an opportunity to be missed."
