A WORKINGTON Spar store has closed its doors in preparation for a new Post Office to move into the premises, as the store undergoes a major refurb.

The Spar store on Westfield Drive, Moorclose closed its doors on Sunday, September 15 as the store undergoes a major refurbishment.

The store will re-open again on Wednesday, October 2 at 1pm following the changes to the shop.

The new and improved store will see a number of additions including hot food and coffee offerings as well as a new Post Office. 

This is following the announcement that the Post Office a few doors down on Westfield Drive would close following the retirement of the post master.

In a sign on the door, Spar said: "In this time we will be making improvements to the store, including adding these new services - Post Office, coffee, hot food.

"We apologise for this inconvenience and hope to see you on Wednesday, October 2."
