A COUNCIL contract worth just over £7million to refurbish a west Cumbrian activity centre will be awarded to the preferred contractor.
On Tuesday (September 17) members of Cumberland Council's executive committee considered a report over the contract for the refurbishment of Cleator Moor Activity Centre at Allerdale House in Workington.
According to the report it is the second stage of a design and build contract with Thomas Armstrong to deliver the refurbishment of the centre and it is a key project included in the Cleator Moor Town Deal.
It states that the contract is subject to planning approval and has a value of approximately £5,849,530 plus VAT to deliver the refurbishment.
As well as the recommendation to award the contract to Thomas Armstrong, councillors also agreed that, if significant changes were required in order to gain planning approval, the decision to continue with the award with the changes required should be delegated to the director of business transformation and change.
