Whytes Cafe Bar has been named News & Star 'Best Bakery 2024'.

The cafe which also produces its own freshly baked products, in Carlyle Court, has been named the best bakery in the region by News & Star readers.

Ten local bakeries were chosen by readers as finalists in the competition and were fiercely supported by fanatics across the two-week voting period.

However, after counting all the votes the Whytes has emerged victorious.

Husband and wife duo Kevin and Claire McClintock own the cafe bar and were elated after learning that their bakery, had been chosen by News & Star readers as the 'Best Bakery 2024'.

Claire said: "Thank you so much to everyone who voted. We are so grateful to our wonderful customers for nominating us.

"I’m so proud of Kevin, he is a talented and driven baker, working harder than anyone I know. Our Christmas cake baking is in full swing and we have a full range of jams for sale.

"With new products and an upcoming online store giving us access to a UK-wide market, Whytes is going from strength to strength.

"We couldn’t have done it without the fabulous people of Carlisle, thank you, everyone.

Speaking previously, Claire also discussed the pair's commitment to producing their customers freshly-baked favourites and desire to keep innovating their original menu.

"Our commitment to quality and a love of our work translates into baking late into the evening and having very early starts, seven days a week.

"As well as our gorgeous cakes and scones, we also bake our own brioche. So when you’re tucking into a breakfast roll at Whytes, you know that love and care have gone into every element of your meal with us.’

"It’s coming into Autumn and our baking reflects the seasons… wonderful homemade jams and preserves which are perfect spread over a freshly baked scone, cakes with spiced apples, plums, nuts, and caramel flavours.

"We shy away from imitating TikTok or Instagram trends, preferring to create original recipes, looking for inspiration from our family baking, travelling and experiencing wonderful food and experimenting with ideas."
