THE UK’s top autumn livestock event, Borderway Agri Expo returns to Carlisle in November with hundreds of livestock entries and judges from across the UK and Ireland.
Recognised as the UK’s premier autumn livestock event, Borderway Agri Expo is set to make its annual return to Carlisle on Friday, November 1, showcasing the best of the UK’s beef and sheep industries.
Organised by Harrison & Hetherington for the 18th year, the event will attract renowned breeders and farmers from across the British Isles.
With more than 400 exhibitors and 120 trade stands on display, Agri Expo will again showcase the latest developments in farming practice, breeding, genetics, machinery, equipment, technology, environmental issues, livestock marketing and export opportunities.
With a full programme of seminars, it will also serve as a platform for the sharing of ideas and concerns, challenges and solutions for an industry adapting to unprecedented change.
This year’s Agri Expo will feature a lineup of nearly 900 head of livestock competing in 22 National Prime Sheep classes, the renowned Agri Expo Mule Gimmer Lamb class, and 25 National Suckled Calf and Cattle classes.
Attendees can also look forward to five breed society shows: the Border British Blue Club Calf Show, Simmental Regional Calf Show, Beef Shorthorn National Calf Show, Aberdeen Angus Winter National Show, and Hereford National Calf Show.
The event also continues its focus on nurturing young talent with several opportunities designed for the next generation.
Highlights include the Young Handlers classes and the David Allen Stockperson of the Year Competition, a specialist contest aimed at testing the skills, knowledge, and abilities of young and progressive livestock farmers. The Young Vlogger Competition invites those under 16 to submit a short video covering ‘A Day in the Life’ on their farm.
