WHITEHAVEN Coastguard Rescue Team have rescued a lone walker who 'sustained injuries' following a fall.

The rescue team was called out on Saturday, September 21 to the aid of a walker who was observing the sunset at a coastal area of Siddick.

The lone walker had taken a fall onto some 'rock armour', however, they had no service to call for assistance, and were later found by a passerby.

Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue was assisted in the rescue by the Maryport Coastguard Rescue Team and North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Writing on social media after the rescue, they said: "The casualty was assessed and packaged into one of our rescue stretchers, before carefully being extracted across the rock armour and carried to the ambulance for onward transportation to hospital.

"We wish them a full and speedy recovery."
