Carlisle Police team have taken a stolen motorbike off the road in Cummersdale after reports of off-road bikes in the area.
Neighbourhood policing teams were out in the area when they saw the stolen vehicle. The rider was able to escape through a patch of stinging nettles, but the bike will now be returned to its owner.
A spokesperson for Carlisle Police said: “Officers from your local City West and City East Neighbourhood teams were out on patrol in the area of Cummersdale responding to reports of off-road bikes when they came across this stolen motorbike and its rider.

“Bike recovered and ready to be reunited with its owner following forensic examination and the runner last sighted having a stinging time in some local nettles. But don't worry we have a health care professional in custody, see you soon.
“Neighbourhood Police Officers use your PACT survey returns to map out the concerns in our communities and cross City and Department work will always deliver more of a sting than any nettle patches.”
