Danny Christie’s world bare-knuckle title fight opponent has talked up his chances ahead of their big fight in Spain.
Christie, from Carlisle, will take on reigning BKFC middleweight champion David Mundell in Marbella next month.
It is one of the top fights on the card as the BKFC makes its debut in Spain.
Christie, from Currock, is looking to add the world title to the British light-heavyweight title he won last year.
But American boxer Mundell says he is “pumped” for their showdown and is targeting a knockout.
“I’m coming in there to knock him out, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do,” said the Florida fighter.
Mundell will be hoping to defend his belt for a third time when he takes on Christie on Saturday, October 12.
The American has six straight victories under his belt, with eight wins and one defeat overall.
“This is my first international fight, and I couldn’t be more excited for it. There’s nothing better than traveling the world doing what you love,” he added, speaking via the BKFC.
Christie has earned a shot at the world title after winning his first fight in the middleweight division.
The 39-year-old Cumbrian defeated Jimmy Millar in Newcastle in June.
That came after Christie vacated his UK light-heavyweight title, which he successfully defended against David Round in April.
The big fight with Mundell will be shown live by pay-per-view / subscription channel DAZN which recently signed a broadcasting deal with the BKFC. Christie has five victories and one defeat in total from his BKFC fights since 2022.
Christie, speaking via his YouTube channel, said he was "absolutely over the moon" to have a shot at a world title.
"This is an opportunity of a lifetime for me," he said.
"I've got massive respect for him [Mundell] as a fighter, he's an incredible champion.
"His team probably haven't given me a prayer in this fight. But I'll get in there and swing it out with him. I think I'm going to take his chin off."
Another Cumbrian bare-knuckle star is also gearing up for his next fight in the coming weeks.
Egremont heavyweight Agi Faulkner is set for action at BKFC Newcastle next month. Details of his opponent have yet to be announced.
The 34-year-old west Cumbrian has two victories to his name from his previous BKFC fights.
