Cumbrian Dean Henderson has been described as a "great goalkeeper" following his superb display against his former club.

The Crystal Palace No1, from Whitehaven, produced a series of top saves to keep out Manchester United.

Henderson earned plenty of plaudits for his showing in the 0-0 draw in the Premier League.

And Palace boss Oliver Glasner was quick to praise the former Carlisle United academy keeper for his first-half heroics.

"It's an easy summary - in the first-half we needed a great goalkeeper, and we had a great goalkeeper with Dean Henderson," Glasner told Palace TV.

"He kept us in the game, he kept us alive, because the first-half was 100 percent how we don't want to play, and we needed clear words at half-time."

Glasner added that Henderson, like his opposite number Andre Onana, made "unbelievable saves" during the draw at Selhurst Park, and that the west Cumbrian "kept us alive" in the game.

The 27-year-old was named player of the match after his exploits against the club he left in August 2023.

Henderson is continuing his strong start to the season which recently earned him his latest England call-up.

He was in interim Three Lions boss Lee Carsley's squad for games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

The Cumbrian has firmly established himself as first-choice under Glasner at Palace, a move which saw the Eagles boss allow previous No1 Sam Johnstone to join Wolverhampton Wanderers on transfer deadline day.
