Four arrests have been made in Cumbria as part of a nationwide operation to crack down on driving offences.
Operation Spotlight runs from 23 September to 6 October. It is a national operation which recognises the significant contributory factor of the 'Fatal Four' in road traffic collisions, in particular with younger drivers and riders.
The 'Fatal Four' include speeding, using a mobile phone at the wheel, not wearing a seatbelt and driving under the influence of drink and/or drugs.
A 33-year-old man was stopped shortly after midnight today (September 24) in Ennerdale Road in Cleator Moor and arrested on suspicion of drug-driving.
Daniel Bullock, of High Park Caravan Park, Oxenholme, Kendal, is due to appear at Workington Magistrates’ Court on 8 October 2024.
A 23-year-old man from the Carlisle area was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving at around midnight last night (September 23) after being stopped in Main Street in Shap.
He was released under investigation whilst officers continue with their enquiries, including the results of blood tests.
A 21-year-old man from London was stopped in Bridge Lane in Penrith in the early hours of Monday (September 23), subjected to a drugs wipe and arrested.

A 27-year-old man from the Salterbeck area was stopped on the A66 at Cockermouth in the early hours of Monday (September 23) and arrested on suspicion of drug-driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.
