CARLISLE'S new Greggs is set to open at the site of a former GP surgery 'within the next month', it has been announced.
The Eastern Way Surgery in Carlisle closed in 2022 after South Carlisle Health Care merged services from Brunswick House, Eastern Way, and Arnside House.
The fast-food giant acquired the Harraby site in July, following an initial planning application to transform the former surgery in June.
A Greggs spokesperson said: "Greggs is due to open a new shop in Carlisle within the next month.
"We will be able to share further details with you closer to the opening."
The announcement follows the appearance of new signage for the national bakery chain on the building last week.
The company plans to hire 12 staff members in total, with two full-time and 10 part-time positions.
In Carlisle, Greggs also has stores on Devonshire Street, Denton Street, The Lanes, Scotch Street, and Kingstown Industrial Estate.
