The family of the late Pauline Brown, a former nurse at the Cumberland Infirmary visited a new bench installed in the grounds of the hospital in her memory.

Pauline’s husband Paul, and children Kerry, Vikki and Gavin, raised £4766.18 in NHS Organ Donation Week last year which was split between Blood Bikes Cumbria and North Cumbria Hospitals NHS Charity.

Her family are now raising awareness of the importance of people registering their decision and having a discussion with their family.

The family met with Intensive Care Staff at the bench which is outside the old doctors residence in front of the Cumberland Infirmary.

They also visited the relatives room on the unit to see how some of their funds had been spent on refurbishing the room.

The family said they were 'pleased' that the funds will benefit staff and patients who may want to take time out on the bench and for families who have loved ones in intensive care.
