ALL lanes of the M6 southbound near Carlisle have been re-opened following a multi-vehicle collision.
Two lanes were closed on the stretch of the motorway between Junction 43 at Rosehill and Junction 42 at the Golden Fleece due to an accident that involved four vehicles on Friday, September 27.
Emergency services were called to deal with the incident at around 12 pm before all lanes of the motorway were re-opened in the early afternoon once the vehicles involved had been recovered and the road had been made safe.
Despite the road re-opening, there was heavy congestion on the M6 southbound near Carlisle, with traffic moving slowly back to Junction 44.
