A walker slipped on a steep rocky path, injured their knee, and was flown to hospital.
Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team said they were deployed at 1.07pm yesterday (September 28) to Whiteless Breast, overlooking Crummock Water.
The walker was unable to continue their journey, and due the challenges of carrying a casualty from this location, th mountain rescue team leader requested help from a coastguard rescue helicopter.
Rescue 199 arrived from Prestwick just as the first team members were getting to the scene after a steep ascent from Buttermere.

A spokesperson from the team explained: “Fortunately, a passing emergency medical technician had already assessed the casualty, and quickly passed on their findings to the team, who then secured the casualty site to allow R199 to winch the casualty up for onward transport to West Cumberland Hospital.
“Many thanks to the passing EMT and Coastguard Rescue 199 for their assistance.”
