We're highlighting the shortlisted salons in our competition in the News & Star. Each of the establishments will be featured over ten issues.
Touch of Class Beauty has been nominated by News & Star readers as one of the ten finalists in its 'Best Beauty Salon 2024' award.
The salon, located on Carlisle's Central Avenue is owned by Christy Jefferson who opened her business in 2021.
After being informed that Touch of Class Beauty had been chosen by News & Star readers to feature in the final ten of the 'Best Beauty Salon 2024' award, Christy was on hand to express her delight.
She said: "I am overwhelmed to be nominated and can’t believe my small business has made it this far thanks to the News & Star readers, it is only me and I have worked super hard over these three years to make my salon great and one of the best.
At her salon, Christy offers a range of services and treatments from eyebrow wax and tints, henna brows, brow lamination, facial waxing, and body waxing among others.
For Christy, it is this variety and adaptability coupled with her work ethic that have made her salon dreams come true.
She said: "I put everything into opening up my beauty business, once Covid hit I worked in a care home for the duration of covid and all my wages went into opening up my beauty room as it was always my dream to have my own beauty business as I was employed in a beauty salon before this.
"I think I am a local favourite because all my lovely clients have lots of friends and family around the area and are always singing my praises and recommend me for treatments as we are a small city word of mouth goes a long way
"It always puts a smile on my face when someone messages me saying they have been recommended by a friend.
"I think people love what I do as there is a treatment for everyone I can always accommodate any client and can adapt the treatment to them so they will always leave happy and more confident in themselves."
