CARLISLE Cathedral will be hosting a special anniversary service.
This is to mark 50 years since the county of Cumbria was formed.
Cumbria's lord lieutenant will be attending the service that will take place this week.
In a statement, Carlisle Cathedral said: "2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the county of Cumbria.
"To celebrate this occasion, His Majesty's lord lieutenant has organised a service of celebration at Carlisle Cathedral on Friday, October 4. This is a free event but booking in advance is recommended.
"All are welcome, and tickets include an invitation to stay with us for the post-service reception."
