EMERGENCY services have attended a fire near Shap - and discovered an apparent cannabis grow.
Fire crews and police were called out shortly before 11.30am on September 29, to a barn fire in a remote location between Keld and Haweswater, near Shap.
At the property, approximately 100 cannabis plants were found with more than 20 surviving the blaze.
An investigation is ongoing, and officers would ask anyone with any information relating to the incident to contact police.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “Three appliances attended the fire – two from Penrith and one from Shap – and crews extinguished the fire and were able to prevent it spreading to a neighbouring property.
“Crews were on the scene for approximately five hours.”
