A menopause awareness evening will take place next week to provide information and support for people experiencing menopause.

In recognition of World Menopause Week, Kelly Holliday and Debbie Adair, personalised care team leads at the Workington Community Hospital, have organised the event at The Carnegie theatre on October 11 from 6pm.

The event will feature a guest speaker from Dandelion Coaching, a menopause specialist, who will offer advice and answer questions from attendees.

This is the third year the event has been held, and the organisers are determined to continue raising awareness of the challenges women face during menopause and the support available.

Ms Adair said: "There are so many ladies struggling, and people may not have realised it was menopause.

"But now we have these events, and people are realising what's going on."

In addition to the annual event, a menopause café has been set up, running monthly at Workington Hospital.

The café provides a safe space for women to discuss their experiences and access support.

Ms Holliday added: "Menopause used to be a taboo subject, but now it's something people are talking about, even men.

"A lot of ladies feel like it's just about getting older, but it can have a significant impact on their health."

The evening is open to all, with entry costing £2, which includes a raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes.

Funds raised will go toward supporting the menopause café.

The event is kindly sponsored by the NHS Community Foundation and North Cumbria Integrated Care Team.
