A THIEF has been jailed after breaching a court order by stealing from a store he was banned from entering.
Lawrence Wilson, 36, is banned from entering shops which are part of the ShopWatch scheme under a Criminal Behaviour Order imposed on June 3 by Workington Magistrates’ Court.
But on September 28, the defendant entered Morrisons in Workington and stole two Lenor Unstoppables worth £20.
He admitted theft from a shop and breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order.
Wilson, of Queen Street, Whitehaven, was jailed for 12 weeks. Magistrates felt only a custodial sentence could be justified due to the defendant’s ‘flagrant disregard’ for court orders and people and their property.
No order was made for costs due to Wilson’s limited means.
