Investigations are ongoing after two people have been arrested in Penrith on suspicion of theft.
Local officers responded to reports from local stores using direct shop watch radios of numerous shopliftings ongoing inside numerous stores by a small group.
A further person was arrested for being in possession of an illegally controlled drug.
Numerous stores in Penrith town centre have access to a shop watch radio and can communicate directly with the local police.

As a result, Eden Police were able to dispatch officers to live radio reports direct from the local stores.
A spokesperson for Eden Police said: “Two young males were detained and arrested this afternoon for theft and one for being in possession of an illegally controlled drug.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
