A VILLAGE school has teamed up with a local artist to create a 'bio-blitz' themed art exhibition.
Students at Halbankgate Village School worked with artist Kathy Kemp to conduct a biodiversity study of its school grounds.
The study saw the students explore the wildlife and plants located in all areas of the school grounds including the pond, wildlife garden, vegetable garden, school field, and wooded areas.
After this study the students created artistic representations, inspired by the work of artist Kurt Jackson, that are now on display at RSPB Geltsdale until the end of November.
Clare Hutton, headteacher at Halbankgate Village School said: "This has been a fantastic opportunity to further explore the biodiversity in our school grounds, which supports our learning in science and out wider curriculum offer.
"The children worked with such enthusiasm and diligence in creating their artwork and were inspired by Kathy and her team of experts.
"We'd like to share our thanks with Kathy and Brampton2Zero, as well as Hallbankgate Hub and RSPB Geltsdale for exhibiting the children's work.
Ms Kemp added: "The 59 artists worked with uninhibited joy and I love the final pieces. I hope you do too."
