Cumbria Police responded to a report about fox hunting in the Appleby area at the weekend.
Two members of the Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team assisted Eden Police response office PC 3451 Clark in a report of fox hunting on Mell Fell, Hilton, Appleby.
It turned out that this was not what was occurring.
Eden Police wrote on social media: "If you do see anything suspicious in our rural communities please report it to Cumbria Police on 101 or Crimestoppers if you wish to report anonymously."
