Cumbria Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a serious assault in Whitehaven.
The incident occurred on Duke Street near Shakers Cocktail Bar in Whitehaven at around 12.47am on October 7.
It is reported to have involved two men. One of the men, in his 40s, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to West Cumberland Hospital.
A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
Anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the two men or the assault is encouraged to contact the police.
