A number of traffic lights and road closures are in place as work continues on the Carlisle Southern Link Road (CSLR).
The Carlisle Southern Link Road will connect Junction 42 of the M6 with the A595 to the west. The route will include new junctions linking existing radial routes into Carlisle and the proposed Garden Village.
The route will include bridges over two main railway lines and the Caldew and Petteril rivers, a network of footways and cycleways and an extensive programme of landscaping and environmental mitigation.
The 8km long road will provide vital infrastructure to relieve congestion in Carlisle and provide the access and network capacity to enable the successful and accelerated delivery of St Cuthbert's Garden Village.
From October 7 road closures or traffic lights are in place on the following roads:
A595 & Dalston Road:
Dalston Road - Monday - Sunday: Full closure. No access between Peter Lane and Brow Nelson to enable construction of the new Cummersdale roundabout and footbridge. A fully signposted diversion route is in place.
Grace Lane - Monday - Sunday: Full closure. Alternative access provided for residents to enable third party service diversions associated with the new Cummersdale roundabout.
A689 at Newby West roundabout - Monday to Friday: Two-way traffic lights to facilitate crossing of plant.
Peter Lane (Dalston Road junction) - Monday - Friday: Two-way traffic lights on the junction of Dalston Road to enable to the safe undertaking of third-party service diversions at the entrance of Grace Lane. For the duration of these works, the Cloverfields bus stop has been temporarily moved 200yds North to avoid unnecessary interface with the traffic management.
Durdar to the M6:
Ratten Row - Monday - Sunday: Full closure. No access from Buckabank Road. This closure is to facilitate the earthworks and drainage operations in this area. This small section will be closed for several weeks. A fully signposted diversion route in place.
Ivegill Road - Monday - Sunday: Full closure of the northern section between Stoneraise Primary School and Durdar crossroads. The closure allows works to begin that will tie in the new road bridge to the existing road network. A fully signposted diversion route is in place.
Wreay Road - Monday - Sunday: Two-way lights to enable works associated with the new Brisco roundabout.

Newbiggin Road (Redcat crossroads) - Monday - Friday: Two-way traffic lights to facilitate plant crossing the carriageway.
Buckabank Road - Monday - Friday: Two-way traffic lights to enable the safe crossing of plant and construction of the Durdar north link.
Durdar Road - Monday - Sunday: Two-way traffic lights to enable the safe crossing of plant and construction of the Durdar north link
