POLICE have been left 'disappointed' following an incident of anti-social behaviour which happened at a newly-opened Workington play park.

Allerdale police were called to Springfield Park Play Area on Windsor Road in Workington on October 5 to reports of children 'behaving in an anti-social manner'.

Officers said that they were disappointed at having to attend to the incident and said that anyone carrying out such actions could 'expect to be dealt with' by police.

In a statement on social media, Allerdale police said: "Allerdale NPT officers are disappointed to report that they have attended Springfield Park Play Area, Windsor Road, Workington this evening only days after the park was opened, due to a report of children behaving in an anti-social manner.

"This park is in memory of someone from the local community and we would like to remind everyone of this.

"Anyone who thinks it's a good idea to behave in an anti-social manner can expect to be dealt with by the police.

"Thankfully on this occasion, a parent of the youths involved attended to take their child home. Hopefully, a lesson learnt for them."
