RECYCLE Week 2024 is set to be marked in Carlisle by the installation of 'Big Rubbish 'artwork at a shopping centre.
Recycle Week is held between Monday, October 14, and Sunday, October 20 and to mark the week which aims to 'motivate more people to recycle more of the right things and avoid unnecessary waste' - The Lanes Shopping Centre and University of Cumbria are hosting a special art installation.
'Big Rubbish' has been created by University of Cumbria Fine Art graduate Paul Forsyth and will be on display from Monday 14 to Friday, October 19 in 93 Lowther Street, with the intention of echoing the sentiment of Recycle Week.
Susan Young, Centre Manager, The Lanes Shopping Centre said “We are pleased to be working with the University of Cumbria and Paul to bring this installation to The Lanes Shopping Centre.
"We hope that it encourages us all to take a moment and consider our own behaviour and what small changes we can make to minimise waste, re-use and recycle waste materials to improve the lives of others and the world we share."
Karen Jones, business manager at the Institute of Education and Arts & Society at the University of Cumbria added: "The university is delighted to be partnering with the Lanes Shopping Centre to showcase the creative talent that we have in the City."
