AN APPEAL against a decision to refuse planning permission for a site in Egremont has been dismissed.

Mr W Dunn had applied to develop a site on land adjoining Lakeland View in Chaucer Avenue where he hoped to build a detached single storey three-bedroom dwelling and new access to highway.

When the planning application was refused he decided to appeal against the decision and the case was decided on September 20.

Members of Cumberland Council's planning committee will be informed of the decision by the Planning Inspectorate to dismiss the appeal, at a meeting at Allerdale House in Workington on Wednesday, October 16.

According to the inspectorate's report the proposed development conflicts with the development plan when considered as a whole.

It adds: "There are no material considerations, either individually or in combination that would outweigh the identified harm and associated development plan conflict. I conclude that the appeal should therefore be dismissed."
