A CARLISLE city centre pub has been re-opened by its new managers.
The Cumberland Inn on Botchergate was re-opened on Tuesday by new managers Kyle Cameron and Tanieth Whitehead who arrived in Carlisle to put the finishing touches on to the popular city centre pub on Friday, October 4.
The pub, which was once well-known as a hub for Botchergate's nightlife, will now move away from its past as a nightclub, with Kyle and Tanieth focused on making the Cumberland Inn into more of a traditional pub.
Kyle said: "We were hoping to get opened on Monday [October 7] but we have been sorting out the final bits and pieces.
"We came up here on Friday [October 4] and we have been trying to get the ball rolling so that we could open.
"We have spent a lot of money on tidying it up and we are planning on totally changing the way that it runs.
"We know that it was a bit of a nightclub before and now we want it to be more of a pub and there has been a lot of time and effort that has gone into making it feel like more of a pub."
As part of the Cumberland Inn's revamp, Kyle and Tanieth have ripped out the dancefloor, got rid of the dance music, and changed the pub's opening times to give it more of a pub feel.
The Cumberland Inn under its new managers will be open Monday until Thursday between 12pm and 11pm, Friday until Saturday between 11am and 12am, and Sunday between 11am and 11pm.
Kyle is also hoping to attract more local sports fans with an emphasis on showing as many Carlisle United matches as possible and supporting local clubs.
He said: "We have got to cater to everybody but we are going to focus on keeping it sports-related.
"We have totally changed the opening and closing times so that it is not a nightclub anymore, we are probably gonna do a bit of midweek karaoke and do away with the dance music on a weekend.
"We want to sponsor a local rugby team and we have Sky Q so we are going to be showing all of the Carlisle United games.
"We are really excited to see what The Cumberland can become."
