A new pedestrian island near to a primary school has been installed by Cumberland Council.
The Council completed the new island near to Pennine Way Primary School in Carlisle.
Cumberland Council said it its priority was ‘safety first’ in the community.

A spokesperson for Cumberland Council said: “This improvement will make crossing safer for children, parents, and all pedestrians, helping everyone travel to and from school with greater peace of mind.
“Your safety is our priority, and we’re committed to making our roads safer for all.
“Thank you for your patience during the work, and please remember to drive safely in school zones.”
