TWO people have been taken to hospital with 'serious injuries' following a crash near Cockermouth.
Cumbria Police are in attendance with colleagues from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service to a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A595 near Redmain.
One man has been taken by air ambulance to hospital and a woman has been taken to hospital by land ambulance.
The A595 is closed in both directions north of Papcastle roundabout and south of the junction with the B5301, and will be "for a number of hours", police said.
"We appreciate your understanding and request that the public avoid the area whilst emergency services are working," they added.
