A community centre celebrated its 90th anniversary with songs, dance, and a raffle earlier this month.
Currock Community Centre in Carlisle held a special event for the residents it serves on Sunday, October 6.
Carlisle and Penrith-based youth theatre ACT performed musical theatre songs and scenes, while a pop-up inflatable football ground entertained the youngsters.
Julie Minns, MP for Carlisle, attended and planted a ceremonial tree, mirroring what was done for the centre’s 50th anniversary.
A raffle, featuring prizes donated by members of the community, was held at the end of the event which was catered for by centre staff using food donated by the Tesco supermarket in the city.
The community centre also presented photographs, writings, and newspaper clippings from the past 90 years that documented the community centre for people to see.
Also on offer were taster sessions with the resident boxing group, kid’s crafting and face painting.

Tish Fisher, centre manager, said reaching the milestone was a ‘testament to all the wardens and staff, and the whole community’ to help make it happen.
She added: “We cater for everybody – nought to 90 plus.
“We have health and well-being as well as social sessions, a toddler group, a walking group as well, we’ve got a full scope of activities.
“We’re face-to-face, and we look after those who are the most vulnerable.”
