PENRITH Mountain Rescue Team helped a wild camper in the Pennines who had a suspected broken ankle.
The mountain rescue team was called out to Knock Pike on October 5 at 8.30am after they were contacted by the North West Ambulance Service.
After receiving treatment from Penrith MRT, the camper was transported to a nearby road and transferred to an ambulance to be taken to the Cumberland Infirmary.
Ten team members were involved in the rescue which took two and a half hours.
Penrith MRT wrote on social media: "Thankfully, the team were able to drive close to the casualty through the fields at the foot of the fell.
"The limb was heavily swollen and bruised so pain relief was given, and the ankle splinted; it was at this point it transpired the injury had actually occurred several hours earlier than first thought.
"The casualty was then transported to the nearby road and transferred to an ambulance for onward travel to Carlisle Infirmary."
