TWO drivers have suffered 'serious injuries' following a crash on the A595 near Redmain.

Cumbria Police were called alongside colleagues from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service to a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A595 near Redmain at 1pm yesterday.

Two vehicles involved were a private transport ambulance and a Nissan X-trail.

Drivers of both vehicles were taken to hospital – driver of the transport ambulance was air lifted and Nissan by land ambulance. Both having suffered serious injuries.

The A595 is closed was both directions north of Papcastle roundabout and south of the junction with the B5301, was closed "for a number of hours".

The road was reopened at around 11pm yesterday evening, October 8.
