An artist from Cumbria has raised more than £500 after holding a charity art exhibition in Maryport.
Roy Simmons moved to Maryport with his wife Janet eight years ago and was quickly won over by the charity work of Maryport Rescue.
He wanted to share his oil pastel paintings, while also giving back to the community that has been so welcoming to him since his move from Essex in 2016.
The exhibition was held at Shipping Brow Gallery in Maryport from August 28 until September 29, with 50 per cent of each sale going to Maryport Rescue.
Now that the exhibition has concluded, Maryport Rescue have confirmed that a total of £560.57 has been raised for the charity thanks to Roy's generosity.
They said: "We cannot thank this wonderful gentleman enough and all who purchased his wonderful artwork. Thank you to the Shipping Brow Gallery for putting on Roy`s art exhibition."
Roy added: "I was delighted that over £500 was raised, which was gratefully received by the charity. Shipping brow gallery has a permanent collection of Percy Kelly and William Mitchell paintings. It is now free for everyone to enjoy."
