CUMBRIA'S 'busiest' live entertainment venue is preparing to celebrate its 10th anniversary next year.
Carlisle's Old Fire Station, which opened in 2015, was originally a fire station from the 1940s until the 2000s when the fire brigade moved out.
Sitting empty for a number of years, the former Carlisle City Council converted it into a venue and arts centre on May 15, 2015.
In 2020, the venue was closed as a result of the pandemic until Will and Maxine Morgan reopened the site in 2021.
"We are now the busiest venue in the county hosting circa 200 shows a year, covering live music gigs, comedy, celebrity interviews, DJ nights etc," Will said.
"The statistics around closures in the entertainment industry give grim reading: with 25 per cent of all music venues closing in Britain last year, 75 per cent of all nightclubs have closed since the pandemic and 50 pubs every month are closing in England.
"So, for the venue to be getting ready to celebrate 10 years is a big achievement."
To celebrate 10 years of entertainment, a month-long celebration including shows featuring Marvin Humes of JLS, Craig Charles, The South, and Justin Moorhouse will run through next May.
"We would like to thank all of our lovely customers for their continued support, our amazing team and to every act that has performed here for making the Old Fire Station possible," said Will.
"Keep an eye on our social media and website for all the new announcements and competitions."
