Carlisle bare-knuckle boxer Danny Christie's bid to win the world title ended in defeat in Spain.

The Currock boxer lost his fight against reigning champion David Mundell.

Christie's opponent claimed victory by technical knockout in round two of their contest in Marbella.

Mundell floored 39-year-old Christie with a powerful right and left-hand combination with a minute and 18 seconds remaining in the second round.

It was enough to bring the contest to a halt as Mundell held onto his middleweight world title belt.

Christie's fight with his American opponent was one of the top fights on the bill at BKFC on DAZN: Spain.

The Cumbrian had earned a shot at the world title after his victory over Jimmy Millar in Newcastle in June.

But he met his match in 33-year-old Mundell, the former mixed martial arts (MMA) star who has been middleweight champion since 2022.

Christie had won the British light-heavyweight title after breaking impressively onto the BKFC scene in 2022.

Victories over Terry Brazier and Darren Godfrey were followed by a win against Anthony Holmes to win the UK title, which he went on to defend against David Round.

He then vacated the title to move to the middleweight division.

Mundell's win in Spain was his third successful defence of the world title.
