A Cumbrian pet specialist has teamed up with a local charity to help boost sales of its 2025 calendar.
WCF Pet & Equestrian is sharing its support for Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice, by stocking the charity’s calendar in its Carlisle, Penrith, Wigton, and Cockermouth stores.
All proceeds from the calendar go directly to the Carlisle-based charity, which supports people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
Hannah Muirhead, manager of WCF Pet & Equestrian’s Carlisle store, said: "As WCF are long-standing supporters of the hospice, it made sense for us to stock the calendars in our north and west Cumbrian stores.
"It’s a stunning calendar which captures some of the county’s most iconic views and scenery and it’s proving really popular with our customers."
The calendars are priced at £6.50 and feature photos of the Lake District and Cumbria taken by members of the public.
More than 300 photos were submitted for consideration, with the final selection chosen by a panel of judges including WCF managing director, Jo Ritzema.
The 12 winners were invited to a celebration event at the hospice last month.
This is the third year that images taken by the public have been featured in the calendar, which is also available to buy via the Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw website and from the charity’s three Carlisle stores.
Alex Groves, business development manager with Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, said: "We’re always delighted and amazed by the quality of the photos which we receive every year, and this year is no different.
"As a charity, having the ongoing support of local businesses such as WCF makes a huge difference to us, whether that’s through fundraising, volunteering, or offering practical support such as providing a valued retail outlet as in this case."
Based on Durdar Road in Carlisle, Eden Valley Hospice provides specialist care for adults in North Cumbria who have life-limiting conditions, as well as providing care for their families, friends, and carers.
Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, which is based on the same site, provides care, support, and activities to children and young people from across the county living with a life-limiting illness.
It costs £4.8 million a year to run Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, with around 80 per cent funded by voluntary donations.
The other 20 per cent comes from NHS grants.
