HEALTHWATCH Cumberland is set to host a 'HRTea Party' as part of World Menopause Day.

Healthwatch Cumberland, which is 'an independent organisation set up to champion' local views on health and social care in the Cumberland Council area, will host the event on World Menopause Day on Friday, October 18.

World Menopause Day is celebrated every year and aims to 'raise awareness of menopause and the support options available for improving health and well-being.'

The 'HRTea Party' also forms a part of Healthwatch Cumberland's wider 'mental health in menopause project'

A spokesperson for Healthwatch Cumberland said: "We hope that we can change the stigma and raise awareness of the lesser talked about symptoms and realities of Menopause. Sharing solutions, and resources, and creating a community of support.

"We also aim to empower women to feel that they are equipped and have a language they can use to communicate with medical professionals, their employers, and their families."

The 'HRTea Party' will take place between 3.30pm and 5pm at the People First Conference Centre on Milbourne Street and will provide women with a 'safe and supportive space' where they can share their experiences.

They said: "To celebrate the work of our project so far we are having a HRTea party.

"This is an opportunity for women to share their experiences of menopause in a safe and supportive space, to speak, and to learn more about this season of life over an afternoon tea.

"Everyone is welcome."
