THE Cumberland FA have announced a number of new dates for women's over 35s football in the county.
The Cumberland FA has announced a series of new 'Turn up and Just Play' sessions that will take place in October and November.
The sessions, which were initially launched in January 2024, will take place at Harraby 3G and Lakes College Workington on Sunday, October 27, and Brampton's William Howard School on Wednesday, October 23, and Wednesday, November 27.
There are also regular sessions in Carlisle, Calthwaite, and Workington on a Friday evening for women who want to play.
The Cumberland FA has also announced a series of upcoming women's football festivals which are set to take place at Penrith AFC in November and in March and April 2025, with these following the successful expansion and visibility of women's football in the county.
Football development Officer Helen Aitchison said: "The new dates are festival events rather than a competition, as we aim to get more women involved and more teams entering to come along, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy playing football.
"Whether players are returning to the game after a period of retirement or are new to the game, we want to encourage more women to get onto the pitch – because football isn’t just a young person’s game."
