Declan Nerney is set to return to Rosley to perform on October 27.

The popular Irish Country Music Hall of Fame singer, renowned for his showmanship and unique 'Nerney' big band sound, will showcase his talent in the village.

Mr Nerney, who grew up on a small farm in Drumlish, Co Longford, was heavily influenced by music legends such as The Beatles, Elvis, and the Rolling Stones, as well as big Irish acts like Joe Dolan, Big Tom, and Philomena Begley.

His passion for music shone through from a young age and he joined his first band, The Hi-Lows, at just 16 years old.

His big break came with his autobiographical song, 'The Marquee in Drumlish'.

Since then, Mr Nerney has been at the forefront of Irish Country music for several decades, entertaining audiences with his 'energetic' performances.

He has appeared on more than 50 television shows and has been honoured with accolades and awards throughout his career.

Last year, he was inducted into the Irish Country Music Hall of Fame by TV presenter Patrick Kielty.

Despite his success, Mr Nerney continues to play to packed dance halls and theatres weekly, with hit songs including 'Stop The World', 'The Marquee In Drumlish', and 'The Three Way Love Affair'.

Organiser Adele Egglestone, of Penrith, said: "Declan is a firm favourite at Rosley, and we’re delighted we’ve managed to secure a date in his busy diary.

"As well as writing his own songs, Declan is a brilliant musician, playing the guitar, banjo and steel guitar, and he’s widely recognised for his ‘Nerney beat’.

"Declan is an all-round entertainer, fantastic musician, and will keep us dancing on the floor all night."

Tickets for the show at Rosley Village Hall on October 27 are priced at £17 and must be purchased in advance.

They are available from Ms Egglestone on 07706 597132.

The show will start at 8pm, with doors opening at 7pm.

The venue has a fully licensed bar and disabled facilities.
