Residents can tap into their creative side whilst enjoying a cup of coffee at Carlisle's newest café and bar.

Sketch and Sip, based on Carlyle's Court, is a unique café with a colourful and artistic vibe that encourages visitors to create something while they're there.

Owners Agata Ostapowicz and Ada Gumula share a passion for art and have had a dream of opening their café for years - and now, it has become a reality.

Agata said: "You know when you just sit at home and you're bored but you don't know what you want to do? We wished there was a place that you can just pop in and there's going to be a lot of choices and you can just browse through boxes or browse through ideas

"We’re hoping it’ll be a place for everyone no matter the age.

"No one is too young and too old to enjoy art and everyone should have a place where it’s easy to make new friends through similar interests."

People will be able to pick up ready packs for activities like crochet, foam clay, glass painting and more, which come with materials and instructions on how to create it.

But, there will also be a paint bar where people can choose and mix paints if they would like to design their own piece from scratch.

This gives budding artists the chance to try out a hobby or technique without committing to the cost of buying all the materials and equipment themselves.

"You can come in and you can choose if you want to do a crochet, you will have a ready pack with an instruction on how to do it then air dry clay as well which is so fun to do," said Ada.

"So, you don't have to buy the actual equipment you just have to buy like this stuff and you can use the equipment while you're here."

The duo have been decorating the venue themselves which includes creating the art that gives the café its fun atmosphere.

They have been upcycling furniture found in charity shops and at car boot sales.

Agata added: "That's why we wanted to make the decorations ourselves as well, so people can come in and be like, 'ooh, I like that. I can make that here'."

Creativity is the thread that runs through the entire venture, right down to the menu, where people will be able to create their own bubble waffle flavour combinations, as well as choose from fun cocktails.

There will also be a wide selection of teas and coffee available to order too.

They're hoping to open the doors to the public before Halloween, with opening hours better suited to the working lifestyle.

Sketch and Sip will be open until 7.30pm on weekdays with later opening hours on the weekend.
