A new business which is aiming to redefine the way people enjoy food in Cumbria is set to hold its first market next month.
In early September, local entrepreneur Aaron Groggins spoke to the News & Star about his new project Eat Street Cumbria.
Aaron wants to bring together the area's favourite eateries under one vibrant roof, in what will be a celebration of food, flavour and nightlife in Cumbria.
And now, a full list of vendors has been confirmed ahead of a debut event in Whitehaven, on November 16, including R-Street Food, Jammies Deli, and Portobello Pizza.
Aaron said: "The Eat Street Cumbria team is excited to announce the debut event on November 16, bringing a unique concept from the cities directly to Cumbria. Join us for an incredible day with street eats, live musicians, and a bar—all under one roof. The vibe is set to be amazing!
"The team have worked their socks off to put on a fantastic Saturday, we have been inundated with offers of support. We have an incredible backing from all of our sponsors (Lloyds Kia & Volkswagen West Cumbria, Design Grid Ltd, Bendalls Engineering, Actemium and our Estates partner BEC)."
Vendors also include Mrs McCourt’s Munches, Dirty Dogs, Dosa Chaska, The Hunger Hero, Candy Cabs, Fodder, Press Coffee and Art’s Thai Cuisine. Energy Events and Soundwave Cumbria will also be on hand to provide the entertainment.
Aaron previously told the News & Star that he feels Cumbria has so much to offer in terms of food and culture. Eat Street Cumbria is about showcasing that potential, supporting local businesses, and creating a hub where people can come together to enjoy great food, music, and company.
Aaron concluded: "We have been incredibly lucky and our hard work has been recognised, This project is made possible thanks to funding from Cumbria Community Foundation and Cumbria Social Enterprise Partnership through Cumberland Council’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund: a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda."
The street market, which is free to attend, will be opposite Whitehaven's Wetherspoons throughout the day on Saturday, November 16.
