Work is continuing on a major regeneration project in Carlisle City Centre.

New sandstone paving has been laid, seamlessly continuing from the Victoria Viaduct onto English Street by Cumberland Council.

The work has been undertaken as part of the ‘Station Gateway’ project which will see the front of Carlisle train station transformed.

The pedestrian area is taking shape, with designated spaces for rain gardens, sustainable drainage (SuDS), and benches to enhance the public space.

Meanwhile, setts are being laid, and new cycle racks are being installed to make the area more accessible and cyclist friendly.
