WHILE work is carried out on various parts of central Carlisle and beyond, here is a round-up of the current road closures in force around the city and its environs, according to the Cumberland Council website:

West Tower Street - Closed from October 14 until November 1

The road is closed between the slip road off Castle Way to West Tower Street, due to works being carried out on the footpaths, and the closure is in force all of the time.

Cumwhinton Drive - Closed from July 1 until November 15

This is a partial closure due to road repair and maintenance, with traffic management in place near the Carleton Clinic, and will be in force between 8am until 5.30pm  from Monday to Friday, between 8am until 5.30pm.

Peter Lane - Closed from June 17 until February 19, 2025

The road is closed between the junction of Peter Lane and Brow Nelson due to construction of the new Cummersdale Roundabout for the CSLR project, and will be in force all of the time.The road closure at Peter LaneThe road closure at Peter Lane (Image: Cumberland Council)

Road leading from Stoneraise through Ratten Row - Closed from May 7 until December 1

This road is also closed due to the reconstruction of a carriageway for the CSLR project, and is in force all of the time.

Road leading to Durdar crossroads south to the Crownstone Bridge - Closed from July 29 until December 8

This road closure will be in force all of the time, and is due to  culvert installation and carriageway construction due to the CSLR project.

Road leading To Whooff House From Aglionby - Closed from October 16 until October 20

This closure is due to works being carried out by Fibrus Networks Ltd, and will be in force all of the time, with the footpath remaining open.
