A Cumbrian animal rescue has issued a plea asking people to support it's fundraising efforts to build new kennels after it faced possible flooding from Wednesday's heavy rain.
Eden Animal Rescue, based in Newbiggin, shared an intense video on social media on Wednesday showing water flowing down into the kennel area with volunteers racing to remove it.
With enough volunteers around to help guide the water away, the animals were safe from potential flooding - however, there is still a flood risk whenever there is heavy rainfall.
Sarah Bean, general manager of the rescue, said: "Last time, pretty much the same time last year, it happened.
"It's basically when we get really heavy rain like Wednesday, it comes from the fells, I think, and down through the fields, and there's just no stopping it.
"It flooded our kennels out last year, so obviously we didn't want that to happen again."
Eden Animal Rescue is currently trying to raise £500,000 to support them in building new kennels which will provide better facilities and accommodation for the animals in its care.
The new kennels will have a better drainage system which will stop the risk of heavy rain causing flooding.
There are currently 13 dogs and 55 cats being cared for by staff and volunteers.
Sarah said: "The kennels that we have now are all in one building, it's all enclosed and they're next to each other, there's no dividing wall between them.
"Whereas our new kennels are purpose built and they are individually built kennels basically.
"It's a larger space for each of the dogs and they have an inside and an outside area. It'll just be far better facilities for the dogs and for the staff and volunteers to work in."
They have currently raised just over £100,000 through ongoing fundraising efforts by supporters and team members are out and about every evening and weekend too.
People looking to support Eden Animal Rescue's fundraising efforts can host their own fundraising event, run a marathon in support of them, or even leave a legacy in their will.
There is also a JustGiving page under the name Kennel Project where one-off donations can be made too.
If anybody would like to volunteer with Eden Animal Rescue, they have two charity shops in Kirby Stephen and Penrith - to find out more, call 01931716114.
