Cumbria Fostering has released an emotive new short film ‘Everything’, which shows the transformative effect of fostering on children and young people, to encourage potential carers to come forward in Cumbria.

The new film, created in collaboration with more than 100 other local authority fostering services, shows how the love and support of a foster carer can literally change ‘everything’ for a young person in care.

The film demonstrates the positive long-term impact fostering can have on those involved, showing one fostering household’s journey over decades. It features a couple of time-hops, telling the stories of two people, Will and Zara (now adults) that were fostered as children by Mike and his wife. The film also shows the important role birth children play as part of a fostering household.

‘Everything’ was developed with foster carers and people that have care experience; providing some powerful insights into the difference which fostering can make in a young person’s life.

Despite already supporting a community of 275 foster carers across the county, with more than 700 children in care, Cumbria Fostering urgently need more local people to come forward as foster carers to prevent vulnerable children being placed with families away from their local area or separated from siblings.

If you have room to spare in your home and in your life to become a foster carer, we’d love to hear from you. In return we offer an excellent package of training, support and allowances for each child you foster.
