A NEW deli will open in Carlisle as the owner hopes to expand on her business and bring something that the public liked the idea of to the popular city market.
Sue Spence, from Roweltown, Carlisle, has worked in various avenues of retail for many years opening her business Cumbria Cheesebox & Deli business 12 months ago and attending local outdoor markets at weekends.
After a positive 12 months Sue has decided to open Deli 51, a situated at units 50 & 51 of the hall, as well as still doing outdoor markets, which will continue with help from family members.
The decision to take her business further and open a permanent stall in Carlisle Market Hall was not made lightly according to Sue, but she saw it as an opportunity to grow the business.
Speaking to the News and Star, Owner Sue Spence said: "I want to support Carlisle Market Hall and the public seemed to like the idea of a Deli in the market.
"I have a huge and varied range of products including 34 different cheeses, 14 chutneys and piccalilli's, homemade farmhouse pies, ready meals, biltong, and general Deli products, sourced as locally as possible.
"The support and acceptance from the Market Hall staff and other traders has been totally overwhelming. The general public so far are behind us for which I am very grateful for and I look forward to welcoming them at the shop when we open.
"I am hoping, looking forward, to be able to take on a part time staff member in the future and be able to stock more products of what the customers ask for."
