AN inquest has opened into the death of a Cockermouth woman who was found dead by friends in a house in Maryport.
Michelle Yule, 45, died at the property on High Street in Maryport on June 18, 2024.
During a brief hearing at Cockermouth Coroner's Court, Assistant Coroner for Cumbria, Dr Nicholas Shaw, said that Ms Yule, of Mawsons Court, Cockermouth, was staying with friends when she died.
He said that her friends that she was simply asleep, but it transpired that Ms Yule had died.
Dr Shaw said that it is 'suspected' that Ms Yule's death may be drug-related.
A post-mortem has been carried out and toxicology samples sent, but Dr Shaw said 'we must await the inquest to find out'.
He set a provisional date for a conclusion hearing of January 30, 2025.
