UP-AND-COMING Cumbrian artist Abi Brown has said that she is 'super excited' ahead of her first-ever exhibition.
Abi Brown, from Brampton, will be hosting her first-ever art exhibition on Wednesday, October 23 at Fantails Restaurant in Wetheral.
Abi began studying Art and Design at Carlisle College in 2018, with her upcoming exhibition set to be her first since completing her studies.
During this time Abi has seen her art evolve from 'experimenting with different mediums' to the female body and the Lake District.
"I’ve always loved art and anything creative," Abi said.
"I completed a foundation degree in Art and Design at Carlisle College in 2018 which was completely fabulous.
"I focused mainly on fashion but got to experiment with all different mediums.
"During Lockdown I had more time to paint and it all just went from there.
"I started experimenting with the female body and moved onto the Lake District in 2022."
Abi now describes her art as fitting into the contemporary and abstract style with an emphasis on the flow of painting curves, which has developed during her artistic journey from the human body to the Lake District's 'groovy hills'.
Abi's love for the Lake District is reflected in her latest work and will form the core of her first exhibition, with the local artist expressing her excitement and nervousness ahead of the event.
She said: "The exhibition is all about the lakes. The Lakes, fells, and nature around us are so inspiring.
"The best thing about being a local artist is how easily I find inspiration. We live in an amazing part of the country and there is total beauty all around to pick out and paint.
"There is so much colour used in these pieces which I just love. It’s that feeling of creating something that genuinely makes you feel happy.
"There are also some more sophisticated, monotone pieces on display and up for grabs as well as prints and calendars so hopefully something for everyone.
"I’m super excited, a bit nervous too, I’ve never shown my work like this but getting it all prepared has been such a buzz.
"I just love creating things, as long as I can do this then I am happy.
"If I can share it with people then even better. It’s a good feeling knowing someone has chosen your work and it is hanging in their home."
